The Arrival!

Published July 15, 2015 by thebabycruse

The arrival of your baby can bring joy and pain at the same time but you can be rest assured that the joy you feel will surpass the pain. No matter the method of birth as long as the baby is alive and well you have a lot to thank God for. Yes! God! Nobody will disagree with the mystery of childbirth having everything to do with the awesome power of God Almighty. Being a new mom has its ups and downs, let’s look at some of the things that can be a ‘pain in the ***’ for some new moms.

Breastfeeding; this part is a huge pain when the breast is not producing milk at the right time or producing the desired quantity. For both situations you need not fear just make sure the baby is not starving and then you can sort out yourself. Find a good baby milk and keep the baby fed,for those who don’t want formula, your baby will not die if given milk. So go ahead. Then use a thick towel soaked in hot water, allow it to cool a bit and then massage the breasts. Am sure most people have heard this but believe me you need to try it when your baby is wailing and weeping for food. All the components of your body will align at that moment and the milk of life will flow. But you have to make sure you are not afraid, fear is a buzz kill. Your brain sends signals to your spirit, soul and body and all the equations sum up to ‘I want to feed my baby now’ response and the milk comes forth.

Babyformula/milk; There is no hard and fast rule here, some babies just don’t like milk and some do, its as simple as that. Don’t make it a big deal. So for us in naija we have so many alternatives intact I recommend one very good one. OGI.   As local as it sounds its very nutritious. If you can’t do breast milk alone due to insufficiency or other reasons, please do OGI.  You can spice it up to add more nutrients. E.g soya, millet, guineacorn, joro. When serving the ogi you can then add milk, if the baby is lactose intolerant pls serve like that. As Kong as you are combining it with breast milk, the baby will get more nutrients from there too.

Advice; Every other thing centers around this one thing, ‘ADVICE’ this is where wahala dey always dey. A lot of mothers listen to other people at some point or the other. But just like the bible says, ‘test all spirits’ so please I beg you to do one thing, just one thing…….know your baby for who he or she or they are. This will help you know how to handle your baby. I know nobody knows everything but be careful what you listen to and who you listen to, what you read and who you read. When it comes to diapers, beds, toys, clothes, etc a mother should have the basic idea of what she wants even before the baby arrives. Nobody should choose those for you without your consent.

Remember, you wanted the baby and God gave you what you wanted, except you didn’t want it….. But always bear in mind that God knows what we need more than us. So even if you don’t see why you have that baby or babies now, just give them your very best as a mother and allow God to show you when the time comes, but please make sure you give your best, never hold back.
